Tenor: Peter Sayer originally hailed from Salford, but now lives in the village of Newtown Linford in Leicestershire. Before joining Retro he served his apprenticeship with a number of quartets - The Credit Chords, Behind Bars, and Leicester Square - and he has also sung in amateur operatics. Like the other members of the quartet he sings with the prize winning Grand Central Chorus. He is also member of Newtown Linford Choral Society, and a mixed quartet, After Eight, with his wife Iris. He has two adult daughters, Catherine and Isobel, is qualified as a solicitor, and plays the guitar, and golf, badly.
Bass: Peter Tatham is the most recent member of the quartet, but is a long time barbershop singer and a former director of a barbershop chorus. He lives in the village of Rothley, Leicestershire, is an enthusiastic fan of the Tigers rugby team, and an Open University student of history.
Lead: Peter Walters is a second generation barbershop singer, having joined the Nottingham Gateway Chorus when he was only 8 years old. As a result he has more years of experience in barbershop singing than the other members of Retro, although he is in fact the youngest member of the quartet. Peter worked in the Middle East and the Far East for a number of years but always retained his involvement in barbershop singing, and would fly back to sing with the Grand Central Chorus when they were involved in special concerts or competitions. He is now settled in the UK, and lives in Oakham where he works in electronics.
Baritone: Dave Hughes tries to glue the quartet sound together as the baritone, singing between the bass and the melody line. He had sung as a child in his local church choir in Derby but gave his voice a rest for forty years before being encouraged to try it out again on discovering Barbershop close harmony. Ten years later he sings on at least three nights a week with The Grand Central Chorus, Yesteryear, who are a Nottingham based group of thirteen male voices, and Retro Quartet, where he gets most of his kicks, from the other three members.
